What Is the Alternate Channel for the Sec Network

  1. I just found out Sling carries the SEC Network and the SEC Network+ (the SEC Network Alternate Channel). I called Sling customer service and they confirmed they DO carry the SEC Network and the SEC+ Network (the SEC Network Alternate Channel).
Wish I had known that before the game last Saturday. Would have saved me a ton of headaches and frustration.
I did not get to watch the game.

    About SEC Network+

  2. I couldn't watch it either. First time in a very long time that has happened.

  3. SEC Network+ is the streaming service on the Internet. SEC Network alternate is an actual television channel. They are not the same thing.
  4. I wasn't able to watch it either as a Canadian network didn't pick it up for the 1st time this season, I am slowly getting in to other options that @thatguy kindly posted for me!

  5. I missed most of it too; when the 2nd half started, I checked regular YouTube to see if there was any free streaming, and sure enough somebody was... watched the rest of the game that way.

  6. I purchased a sports package from my cable provider that includes both the SEC channel and the SEC alternate channel for an extra $5 per month. The SEC channel is channel 82 and the SEC Alternate channel is 355 where I live. Alternate channel would be hard to find, if you did not know where to look.
  7. Unbelievable that anyone who streams or who owns an Amazon 4K Firestick, canagator, and has ESPN in their tv network provider package didn't watch the game after all we discussed last Friday. You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, even to watch the Florida Gators.

I don't have SEC Network+/SEC Alternate, but I enjoyed watching the game on my new LG65SM9500PUA that I picked up last week for $1,049, the best non-OLED on the market for combined picture and sound.

  8. My dudes, it was on the ESPN Roku app. I had SEC Network on my plan, but not the alternate channel.
  9. It is still a work in progress here ET, I didn't get the Firestick hooked up until Sunday, I will have to look into a VPN because it looks as if ESPN can't be downloaded in Canada! That sounds like a sweet tv you have there, I just bought a new Sony myself, I have a whole bunch of cable routing to do to get my surround system up to par, the Georgia game is on CBS so I can watch the Buffalo affiliate! Thanks for the advice!
  10. Not sure who your cable provider is. I had Directv when the SEC channel came out and the SEC Alternate channel came with it. I have Comcast now but the same thing applied. I just assumed the SEC Alternate channel came with SEC main channel. I did have to go in and add those channels to the channel line up to make them visible.
  11. That is correct. You can forget rewinding, recording, and pausing on ESPN+ or SEC Network+

We have YouTube TV which does not have the SEC Alt. channel, but we can use ESPN+ to watch whatever is streaming there.

It is not ideal especially if you like to rewind and pause a lot. Every football season I miss Direct TV.

  12. I have YouTubeTV and it wasn't on there Saturday either, but what I was able to do was download the ESPN app on my Roku and then access the game, and I assume other "plus" programming through the app, using my YouTubeTV log-in. Worked great for me.

  13. Simply, THIS is how it's done. I have Amazon 4k Fire Sticks, but the same applies to whichever device you choose to stream on. So long as ESPN recognizes your tv service provider and allows you to sign in, you are good to go on the SEC+ Channel. The same applies for when events are on ESPN3.

  14. I don't have cable, dish, Roku, or whatever. I just have the internet. I have never missed a gator game, football or basketball, that has been broadcast on any station. As long as there is a broadcast, it is available on overseas websites if you know what you are doing. You just have to know how to click through all the misleading links and they eventually work. I watched the game in full this past weekend from my hotel room. Just delayed about 2 minutes compared to the live action.
  15. The ESPN app is in the Amazon app store for free. I don't understand what Canada has to do with downloading the app on your 4K Firestick. You own it. If it is a tracking/privacy issue, you can turn those off in settings. There is a lot I turn off so as to not lose privacy and use too much storage on Amazon junk.

Which television service provider did you pick out? So long as your television service provider offers ESPN and ESPN recognizes your television service provider and allows you to sign in using your television service provider credentials, you should be good to go, in Canada or anywhere else in the world.

The LG LED I purchased at $1,049 has outstanding picture quality and the sound is incredible. It has down firing speakers in case you want to wall mount, two 20W speakers and a 20W subwoofer. The sound is so good that I don't need a surround sound system, full rich sound.

My next upgrade will be to the LGOLED65CXPUA or its future equivalent. It is the best tv on the market bar none. However, it would have set me back another $850 at $1,899. I did not want to spend that much at this time, but it has the best picture on the market, the same speakers I have on my new tv, plus it has a curved stand to reflect the sound out into the room if you don't wall mount. You get the best of everything with the LG 65 OLED CX.

I like LG so I'll stick with them when I move up again. LG pioneered the OLED screen. Anyone selling OLED right now is selling an LG screen.

The good thing about OLED is that it is finally beginning to come down in price.

The bad thing about OLED is you have to make sure you use your TV screen saver or the 4K Fire Stick screen saver. Prolonged still pictures on a screen will eventually produce a noticeable burn in on the screen. Screen saver can help to reduce the risk of burn in.

Samsung sells a QLED, but it's the Samsung LED version of what I just purchased at a higher price. It is not an OLED screen and it isn't as good of a picture as the LG OLED.

Sony? I have always liked their picture, but can't tolerate their tinny sounding speakers which is why you have to hook up to your surround sound system.

  16. I think they were all purchasing espn+
  17. We can't get ESPN on cable here in Canada so that probably is why we can't use the app or it isn't offered! That tv sounds super cool, yes I love my 65" Sony, I'm not bothered about the sound as I always use the surround system!
  18. I recommend Hulu + Live TV, $54.99 + tax and fees in the US. However, you don't have a straight path residing in Canada. Read this to see if it helps:

How to Watch Hulu or Hulu Plus in Canada - Updated for 2020

Besides using the VPN, also block your location on your Amazon 4K Firesticks, easily done in settings.

I could tell you about IPTV, Internet Protocol TV, but it would blow your mind right out of the streaming gate so don't want to do that to you. IPTV is also not as streaming dependable as Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, Fubo TV, and Sling TV, the big four. I tried several IPTV services, but there was far too much buffering, channels being available one day and not the next, and too much down time usually at a time not to my liking to update their servers.

Good luck with getting streaming right in Canada.

  19. I am in central Florida and have Spectrum (BrightHouse) and after scrambling up and down the guide I found the game on SEC alternate channel 832. I was caught by surprise but it was available. This week won't be a problem.
